Facebook Comments And Conversations This Week

By Believe Out Loud

This week we had many people come to our Facebook page for the first time:

“Oh my gosh ! Finally, a place were the good Christians can help the LGBT community. I’m 14 and gay. I’m extremely proud of it, too. My church even supports me. If God accepts me, so can everyone else. God bless this page!”

“Just saw this page advertised in my sidebar. Talk about a page worth liking and a cause worth celebrating! You made my day!”

I am glad they are a part of this community!

These two comments posted on our Facebook page made me smile:

“Thank you. It’s really all I can say.”

“Homosexuality is not something to overcome, it is something God calls us to live into fully and faithfully.”

I also enjoyed these three different comments in response to pictures posted to Facebook:

“I’m a Buddhist/UU straight ally and I just want to say how proud I am of all of you at BOL for stepping up and not only accepting but embracing your fellow Christians in the LGBTQ community. As people of faith, we must continue to do what we can for our long-suffering brethren. President Obama’s public declaration of support was a huge step forward for us, but Jesus said “Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for justice, for they will be satisfied.” I will work with you to make that happen! Thank you!”

“I have moments when i wish I was different or not gay but then i read something like this I tear up a bit and then I think wow that is wonderful and I pick up my sorry butt and I go on but i often forget that I go because of people like this person who posted this story .. i thank you very very much.”

This week showed me that there are many people still out there that need a supportive community. I am glad that Believe Out Loud is that supportive community for some people. We would love to be there for anyone who needs it. If you know of anyone who is searching for a place where being Christian and LGBT are not at odds, please let them know about us. We would love to invite them here!
