Facebook Comments And Conversations This Week

This week many of the Facebook comments were on the topic of Pride, which was on Sunday June 24th. There were so many supportive comments it was hard to choose which to display here. Here are the some of the comments about New York City Pride 2012:
“In ten years of marching in NYC Pride I have never had my picture taken so many times as I did yesterday wearing my new Believe Out Loud shirt. I am not photogenic so it had to be the shirt. Total strangers were waving me to the curb to high-five me. I think the message is working!”
Someone responded to the comment above with this:
“This is wonderful. The crowds need to hear that we as Christians are here to say loudly and clearly that there is no contradiction in being an openly LGBT person and being a devout Christian. In fact, being open about our status as LGBT means we are living a life of integrity. Congratulations to you and for the other members of Believe Out Loud for taking such a bold public stance.”
A couple posted a picture of themselves wearing the Believe Out Loud Pride shirt on our Facebook wall. They also commented saying:
“My wife Cynthia Scheiderer got to visit New York and work with the wonderful folks at Believe Out Loud, and all I got was this great t-shirt! Thanks for your good work!”
On Sunday June 24th the morning of Pride, three people made reference to church saying:
“I just want to thank you at Believe Out Loud for sharing the link on welcoming churches. My girlfriend and I attended a service in our area and LOVED it!!!!! It was nice that the words “gay” and “homosexual” were mentioned in a church setting followed by words like “acceptance” and “equality” rather than words like “sin” and “abomination”…….thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!!!”
“this morning we went to church and what really warmed my heart…i saw our flag hanging next to our nations flag! bisexual and proud :)”
“Although I am straight I believe that we are all equal in the eyes of God”
This week Presbyterian Church (USA) has their Annual General Conference. This week the Presbyterian Church (USA) will ratify Amendment 10-A, into G-2.0104. With the new amendment, qualified LGBT Presbyterians will be able to serve as ministers, elders and deacons.
In reference to this blog posted on our Facebook page, Historic Change Inspires Change For General Assembly, someone commented and said:
“Amen and amen! I’m so proud of you my Presbyterian brothers and sisters!”
This week has been filled with support for the LGBT community. Let’s keep showing this community how much we value them just as they are.
